Chew Lixian Ashley TA2B/07 "Nature in Art"

Prologue
The following pictures all vividly reflect the many vibrant colours of nature, inspiring me to view nature as a form of art, specifically a painting.
The brilliant scenes of the almighty tree; the swans swimming on the surface of the lake; and the gorgeous Vanda Miss Joaquins in full bloom have inspired me to write a poem in which Mother Nature is divine and beautiful, and that if man can illustrate this beauty into words which paints the ideal state in which nature exists, thus invoking the senses of the reader to "see" these images even without the pictures.
In the last stanza, while through illustrating the awesomeness of the creations of Mother Nature, hopefully it could serve a larger purpose to inspire man from destroying the natural environment and conserving nature.
The poetic elements such as the use of rhythmic 10-syllable lines and the stanzas rhyming abab throughout the poem, enhances the lightheartedness of the poem and the musical effect brought about by the use of rhythm in the poem.

The almighty lush green tree and us.

Swans bathing in the lake.

Protect our environment.

Nature in Art

If Mother Nature tutor me in Art,
I would be the greatest painter alive.
My tree would show a living, beating heart,
And foliage limbs in verdant herringbone.

My lake would be a skating rink for swan,
Moonlight shining through the pitch-dark nights,
Sunset travel across the horizon,
And stellar diamonds only found in dreams.

My flowers all abloom would take one's breath,
An exhibition of Nature's fine hues
With fallen leaves in brown and orange death,
Enough to stir the most disinclined muse.

My painting would inspire the world to see
The magic Mother Nature can release,
And should I save one single living tree,
I'll know my painting was a masterpiece.
