The Black Swan
Black on flat water,
Past the green pastures,
The black swan glides.

At the first glance of it,
Many emotions ran through me.
Why are you alone?
Thou have neither friends nor family.
And what was the cause
Of this torturous life,
Living in loneliness.
Despite this,
You still live with pride.
Thou black neck arches not unlike.
Thou black wings fans out similarly.
Compared to other swans,
No different you are.
Epilogue: The inspiration for this poem is "The Lamb" by William Blake. In the poem, William describes the lamb, and that God provides the lamb its necessities. Whenever I think about swans, white swans would be pictured instead of black as white represents elegance and purity. Such discrimination is portrayed in our everyday lives. We should not discriminate one another based on looks, because we do not have the power to choose our skin color, race, religion etc. God made us this way and we should show gratitude to everything that we have now.
