The old man of the park

The old man of the park
Stands unaccompanied
Reaching out for company much desired
Young and energetic

The old man of the park
Gone through many decades
In the making of us
Played an important position

The old man of the park
Seen as insignificant
Yet it contributed
All in silent

The old man of the park
Surrounded by naught
Dreams of lush green leaves
A relic of the history

The Heritage Tree, Tembusu is featured on the $5 note and it is native to Singapore yet not many of the Singaporeans know about it. Many of us are ignorant about the things that are happening around us. We are over reliant on technology that we do not bother about significant things that seemed insignificant.

I feel that this is related to William Wordsworth “The world is too much with us” as we supossingly ‘modern’ people are no longer in tune with nature. We are drawing away from nature just like how Wordsworth felt when he wrote his poem.
